It’s actually mind-blowing seeing the transformation of this space before and after I painted this mural. This mural ((located at Fricke’s in Crown Point, IN)) has given this dive bar & bowling alley a new life. The goal was to create an eye-catching design while also staying true to Fricke’s historic presence in this town. I truly hope that the owners, loyal patrons, and the average passerby are happy with how this mural turned out. I know I’m feeling super grateful, accomplished, and proud when I look at the end result. Huge thank you to @kelsieedwardss for recommending me for this project and @frickes_bar for trusting me with their space! Can’t wait for the next 🎨

What a good feeling it is when the mural is complete and I can finally add my signature ✍🏻 So so excited to show you guys the finished mural!

One of my favorite parts about my job is meeting other contractors. We talk about our professions and find that we actually have more similarities than you’d assume! It’s such a great feeling for my work to be appreciated by others in a completely different field. I love getting to know others and hear more about what they do. Take this as your push to chat more!! Even though it takes up valuable work time, connections are everything — personally and professionally.

I’ll go first… My favorite thing about painting murals would probably have to be locking in, reaching flow state, and then taking a step back to take it all in. As someone with **undiagnosed** ADHD, life can feel super chaotic at times. My to-do list is long and never ending and I’m never sure where to start. My brain is constantly on but can never just focus on one task at a time. When it comes to art — and specifically murals — I eventually get to a point where everything else shuts off and I get lost in my own world. Time flies by and before I know it, I haven’t eaten anything all day and my skin is on fire because I didn’t apply sunscreen hourly. I take a step back though and see all the progress I made ((while I eat a snack and reapply sunscreen, of course)). In that moment, I’m so proud of myself and feel so accomplished. I often think about my dad and how I wish he could see what I’ve been up to. Overall, I just love the feeling of escaping into my world, blacking out, and being somewhat surprised by what my body has created while I’ve been on auto-pilot lol. Anyone else???? Just me????????? I’d love to connect with other muralists and hear what your favorite part about painting murals is!! 🎨
